Average air pollution readings in central Christchurch, taken by the Health Department at the Reserve Bank building for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m., yesterday, were: Smoke: 16, low Sulphur dioxide: 34, low Nitrogen oxides; 83, low Figures for the inner suburban area for the same period were: Smoke: 14, low Sulphur dioxide: 10, low Nitrogen oxides: 24, low Readings are in micrograms per cubic metre. Levels are: Smoke: less than 40, low; more than 120, high. Sulphur dioxide: less than 60, low; more than 200, high. Nitrogen oxides: less than 100, low; more than 250, high.
