Study grant to doctor
Dr Edward Janus, of Christchurch, has been awarded $13,353 for a research fellowship by the scientific committee of the National Heart Foundation of New Zealand. The grant will allow himto continue training and research into new methods of investigating the chemistry of blood fats in patients with elevated serum cholesterol. Dr Janus works at St Thomas’ Hospital, London. He will return in 18 months to continue working with the departments of medicine and biochemistry’ of the North Canterbury Hospital Board. He is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and was recently awarded a doctorate of medicine with distinction. The scientific committee has allocated a record $220,000 in grants for the 1975 and 1976 year.
