Broodmares sold
(Special Correspondent) DUNEDIN The broodmares Cadmean and Lovely Lass have been sold by Mr Bill Cameron, of the Libernton Stud. East Taieri, to Mr Denis Clayton, of Adelaide. Cadmean is the dam of Meneleus (10 wins) and three Australian winners, Prince Mellay, Tristar and Melodean. Another of her progeny, King Mellay, has been placed in South Africa. Lonely Lass is a winning halfsister by My Pal to Quetta, whose 11 wins included the Watkins Handicap at Trentham in 1970 and 1972 and is closely related to Picaroon. She is in foal to Noble Bijou. Lonely Lass will return to Noble Bijou’ and Cadmean is to be mated with Shifnal before the pair are shipped to South Australia. “Hotel” THE SINGLE word “Hotel” was sufficient title for one of Arthur Hailey’s best-sellers, but it is a rather inadequate address for the author himself. A fan has sent the visiting celebrity a letter addressed to him care of “Hotel”, Christchurch — but with the back-stop suggestion “or via Press Association”. No doubt it will reach him.
