BREAST PROTHESES SUBSIDISED
; PA Wellington I Certificates entitling patients to a subsidy of up to $3O for a breast prosthesis will be given to all women undergoing a mastectomy on or after July 29. the Minister of Health (Mr Gill) said. The Minister was commenting on the Budget announcement of the subsidy. The subsidy will apply to both public and private hosipital patients. The certificates, to be issued by the [hospital where the operation is performed, will state the date of the mastectomy and the fact of the patient’s eligibility for the subsidy. An appropriate form should be obtained from the hospital board or a retail supplier. Suppliers would be able to claim payment, up to $3O. from their district health offices. “Full details of the administrative arrangements for this subsidy will be sent to hospital boards, private hospitals and district health offices,’’ the Minister said.
