Chambers seek more members
PA Nelson A 50 per cent increase in the membership of Chambers of Commerce is the aim of the incoming president of the Association Chambers of Commerce (Mr F. T. Croft). Mr Croft, who is from Upper Hutt, and who took office at the end of the annual conference in Nelson of the Associated Chambers, told delegates to take home the conference theme, “Private enterprise, what of the future?”
Chambers of Commerce could not exist without Lie support and membership of the business community, he said. Most businesses in New Zealand could be classified as “small,” and for the chambers to implement their “small business" programme they needed strong support.
"I have set up membership committees in both the North . and South Islands. They will be in contact with the various chambers soon, to assist where needed,” said Mr Croft.
“Once people realise what we are trying to achieve, I [am sure we will get their support.” he said.
