Tour view from Spain
A New Zealander, now living in Madrid, has written to '"The Press” about the All Black tour of South Africa and the consequent boycott of the Oljnnpic Gaines by African nations. Mr D. Lester said he was surprised by the extent of the repercussions of New Zealand's actions in the sports field. “That little ol’ New Zealand should be singled out to bear the brunt of ideological rejection seems unfair." It was naive to think that sport could be kept apart from politics. The All Black tour implied that New Zealand condoned the political and racial system of South Africa, which was "the major bulwark against the burgeoning black nationalist movement in Africa," Mr Lester ■aid.
