Confrontation avoided
A seamen’s dispute which threatened to develop into a confrontation with employers was settled on Saturday morning when crewmen on the freighter Karepo accepted the decision of Lyttelton’s shipping master (Mr R. Stanley). The dispute began when a failure in the vessel’s pumping equipment prevented water from being delivered to the crew’s lavatories.
