Men caught in wreck
Two men were trapped in the wreckage of their car] after it hit a stationary truck in Awatea Road. Wigram. about 6 50 p m. yesterday. One of the victims was freed almost immediately, but firemen usng crowbars took several minutes to extricate the second. Maurice Whittaker. of Hindess Street. (Jaklands. and Jack Milne, of Hurunui Street. Cashmere, were both admitted to Christchurch Hospital with head injuries. Their condition was not available last evening.
Two Christchurch women also suffered head injuries when two cars collided head-on on the Main North Road early yesterday afternoon.
Kathleen Morton and Marilyn Williams, neighbours in Sapphire Street, Bishopdale, were in a fairly comfortable condition in Christchurch Hospital last evening.
