Sulphur and barley in hulk
The bulk carrier Star Capella will be responsible for moving about 20,000 tonnes of cargo through Lyttelton over the next month. She arrived in port last week to discharge 8500 tonnes of bulk sulphur from the United States, and negotiations are under way to have her export 10.000 tons of barley in August. The Star Capella will finish discharging sulphur at other New Zealand ports before returning to Timaru for 11,0»)0 tonnes of bulk barley and a final top-up at Lyttelton.
Lyttelton’s barley will be funnelled through the bulkloading facility at Cashin Quay. For the bulk loader at the quay, next month will be one of its busiest. Next week it will handle about 20.000: tonnes of bulk coke breeze I and woodchips, followed by! the barley and possibly; further shipments of coke; and woodchips.
