A New Zealand record price at auction for a t\ '-year-old Angus bull—s26.oo(l—was paid by a North Island syndicate at Pleasant Point The bull. Stern 827. was one of 42 Angus bulls offered at the annual sale held on account of J R. Fraser, of Totara Valley. Stern 827. which was entirely home-bred, drew keen competition. finally going to the bid of Messrs F M. B. Kight ' Danr.evirkei. J. Bartlett 'Feild mgl, and P K. Finlayson Pokeno, South Auckland' The 42 bulls grossed $607150 for an average of $1434. Before the aale. Stem 827 »M judged the best anima! by an Australian judge. Mr A. McKeoch. and stud stock men rated the bull as one of the be»t offered at the annual Angus sales «o far this winter. Other sales included —One at B*2oo to G. Hoquard (Blenheim!. 1 at $4OOO to W. The higher priced bulls were eligible for stud purposes. Run bulls ranged from $306 to $1706. The sale drew wide-spread Interest, with breeders attending from Gisborne, Hawkes 1 Bay and the Manawatu.
