Oyster raft removed
Mr C. J. Marsh has moved his oyster-spat raft from Lushington’s Bay to Akaroa in compliance with an Akaroa County Council decision that it had to be taken out of the harbour.
The council gave Mr Marsh until July 18 to remove the raft and another one moored off Tikao Bay which was taken ashore last week. The Akaroa County Engineer (Mr K. A. Paulin) said yesterday that Mr Marsh had called on him, saying he was on his way to remove the Lushington's Bay raft, which had been done yesterday, and had left a petition supporting the retention of his Tikao raft. The petition would be considered by the council at its next meeting, Mr Paulin said.
