Veteran bowler
Probably the oldest representative sportsman or sportswoman in New Zealand took part in the central South Island zone of the Rothmans indoor bowls tournament at Timaru on Saturday. The 82-year-old Mrs Helen Preston played second for North Otago's four skipped by John Grant, and never faltered throughout the three hard onehour games that each team played. Mrs Preston, who "thoroughly enjoyed the experience," could have given some lessons to much younger players with her fine examples of sound, second Play.
