Richards third

Michael Richards New Zealand's only Olympic Games track cyclist, was third in the 3000 m individual pursuit in the world iunior championship at Rocourt, Belgium, yesterday. Richards's time in beating the East German, Joergen Lippold, was 3min 43.345ec, 2.ssec faster than his opponent. The two who fought out first place were less than Isec faster than the 17-year-old Richards. Robert Dill-Bundi (Switzerland) rode 3min 42.505ec. a mere hundredth of a second faster than Gerald Moriag (East Germany). Richards is the first New Zealander to compete in the junior championships, open to riders 18 and under.
