Entry forms available from all stock firms. T 1646 MARINE FARMING ACT 1971 WE, Nathan George Frederick Scott and Ross Lenton Power of P.O. Box 1316 Christchurch hereby give notice that we have applied for a lease or licence under the Marine Farming Act 1971 for the purpose of farming mussels in an area containing approximately seven hectares situated in Elie Bay, Pelorous Sound. The area measures approximately 304 metres by 228 metres and is situated on the Eastern side of the bay, the northeast comer being approximately 452 metres from Trig W on a bearing of 162 degrees 30 minutes. The general axis of the area lies north and south with the longest side parallel to the shoreline and approximately 200 m from high water mark. The method of fanning will be by using longlines up to 110 metres in length attached to buoys at regular intervals along its length, from which are suspended ropes on which the mussels will be cultivated. The end of each line will be securely anchored and additional buoys will be attached to support the growing mussels as and when the need arises. The boundaries of the area will be marked by orange buoys placed on all corners and at intervals of approximately 100 metres along each boundary for alternatively as advised by the Harbourmaster) bearing the name of the applicant and the words “Marine Farming Lease applied for.” A plan of the area may be seen at the offices of the Fisheries Management Division, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. Any person desiring to object to this application should do so, stating fully the grounds on which the objection is made within two months after the date of the first publication of this notice to the Director-General, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, P.O. Box 2298, Wellington. and serve a copy on the said applicant at the above address.
