New head at Invermay
A Lincoln College gradu- ! ate, Dr J. P. Joyce, has been appointed director of the Ministry of Agriculture’s Invermay agricultural research centre in Otago. He replaces Mr N. A. Cullen, who has been promoted to be head of the Ministry’s field and research organisation at Ruakura. Dr Joyce hao worked fori the last 10 years at the) Ruakura agricultural re-! search centre on research| into animal nutrition and i sheep and cattle manage- ! ment. Before his promotion,! he was scientist in charge of the nutrition section. Born and brought up in North Otago, Dr Joyce, who is 42, took an M.Sc. degree with honours in animal science at Lincoln College in 1957. He started work with the Ministry of Agriculture 17 years ago as a scientific officer and later spent three years on study leave in ! Scotland, where in 1964 he; gained a doctorate in animal; nutrition at the University' of Glasgow.
