Assault on constable
GV Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. A 17-year-old woman who held a policeman’s arm while a male companion attacked him with a beer bottle appeared in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court. Maree Patrice Hansen, an exchange operator, pleaded guilty to assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty and to assisting a man to avoid arrest. The companion, who was to have been questioned about another assault, escaped. Mr E. S. Tuckwell. S.M., fined the defendant $l5O and sentenced her to 15 months probation and 30 hours community work. On the charge of assisting the man to avoid arrest she was fined is7s.
