Rescue boat helps three

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 19. Wellington’s new lifesaving boat, the Spirit of Wellington made her first rescue today when a rowing shell sank in Oriental Bay. Four rowers from the Star club were in the water for about 10 minutes before the Spirit of Wellington arrived from Evans Bay, where she was launched on April 11. A police launch was also called out and pulled one of the rowers, who was suffering from cramp, from the water while the Spirit of Wellington towed the others and their shell into shallow water in Oriental Bay.
