Karam kicks 7 goals

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. More than 7000 people went to Carlaw Park on Thursday night to see the formtr All Black, Joe Karam, make his debut in premier rugby league and they were not disappointed, as he kicked seven goals in Glenora’s 26-15 win over Maritime. From the first minute of the game, when Karam put over a penalty from 30m out and 10m from the grandstand touchline, the crowd took] him to their hearts. But there were also soberling thoughts for the Glenora coach, Mr N. Stephens. I Karam again was not called on to do a great deal, but when under pressure, he was inclined to hurry his pass rather than take the tackle. Karam was yesterday named for the Auckland ■ squad for the vital Amco ■Cup game next week. He is in the Auckland training squad of 22.
