Netherlands cancer unit tested

A $25,000 breast-cancer detection unit imported from the Netherlands was tested at the Christchurch Women’s, Hospital yesterday. It is ex-i pected to be in use next week. Selected groups of women ( whose families have a his-i tory of breast cancer, those) who have already had ai breast removed, or those with a lump on the breast will be given priority. The machine is nbt designed for mass screenings. The machine can detect a lump on the breast that is not palpable and determine! if it is malignant. The X-ray equipment was bought largely with funds raised in an appeal organised by Mr L. J. Rhodes, of Beckenham.
