March Miss Beatrice Cutforth, the first matron at Astley House.. a Methodist home for the ; aged in Auckland, has died; at 100 years. i Born in Port Albert in 1875,; : Miss Cutforth moved to i ■ Whangarei with her parents; 'in 1881. After they died she joined the staff of the Wes-; ■ ley Methodist Boys’ Home; in Mt Albert. She became i the sub-matron at the home.; and later moved as matron to the Masonic Orphanage at Papakura. In 1942, she took up the position of matron at Astley House. She had her 100th birthday last November 18. |
