Schick final to Cornwall

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. An amazing partnership of 125 by R. J. Kasper (84) and R. E. Redmond (62 not out) turned Cornwall, of Auckland, into the national inter-club knockout champions when they defeated High School Old Boys, of Christchurch, by 63 runs in the final of the Schick tournament at Cornwall Park yesterday. Amazing because the rain yesterday morning left the pitch like a skating rink, the immediate outfield like glue and the wonder was that any cricket was possible at all. Cran Bull, the H. 5.0.8. captain, added to the incredulity of the morning by asking Cornwall to bat first, even though bowlers of the quality of Richard Hadlee and Allan Hounsell had to bowl off very short runs, with the danger that any violent action would leave them sprawling in the mud.
