British Rail chief to resign

Sir Richard Marsh, the; ‘head of Britain’s State-run 1 [railway system, is resigning from his £23,000-a-year post "because of Government tampering with the railways.” Sir Richard, who is 48, says I that he will leave his post in i September, when his five-year contract ends. British Rail lost an esti-i mated £soom last year. Complaining of the Labour Government changes of policy, Sir Richard said: “There' is a limit to the amount of' times you can turn in your tracks.” Sir Richard is a former Labour Party Minister of; Transport.
