Malik hurt in car crash

The Soviet Union ambassador to the United Nations iMr Jacob Malik) is in a >atisi factory condition in a New (York hospital after a car [crash in which his wile and | two other people were seriously injured and a -woman was killed.
Mr Malik, who is 69, suffered a broken rib, cuts, and bruises in the accident. His wife, Valentina, also 69. is in a fair condition after surigery to stop internal bleeding. She had a ruptured small intestine.
The police said that a car driven by Mrs Harriett Kerley, aged 75, was making a left turn at an intersection when it collided with that in which Mr Malik was travelling.
Mrs Kerley is in a fair condition after surgery, but Mrs Rosemary Sowinsky, aged 47, a passenger in her car, was killed. Mrs Sowinsky’s daughter, aged 16, was seriously hurt.
