Arrest after death of youth

AUCKLAND, March 15
Detectives investigating the death of a youth at Riverhead arrested a 19-year-old mill hand and charged him with manslaughter late this afternoon.
He will appear in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
The arrest was made after the discovery this morning of the body of a 19-year-old youth, lying face down in a creek near the single men’s living quarters at the mill of Carter Merchants, Ltd. at Riverhead. The dead youth was
Edward Davis, of Riverhead, who had been missing since Friday night.
He had suffered head injuries. An orange jersey was .’found in the bush nearby. The police were not told of the dead youth's disappearance until Sunday night, after another youth had made his way from the bush near Riverhead.
Detective Inspector P. J. O’Donovan said the police were not looking for a weapon.
