Bus colours

Sir, — The Christchurch Transport Board buses emblazoned with advertising, present an interesting and very effective spectacle on the streets of Christchurch. The board’s annual losses, heavy as they are, surely warrant this break from “red,” the added revenue can only be welcome. Furthermore, the buses’ new colours distract from the rather old and shabby condition some of them have acquired. Why not paint some more? People who stand at bus stops will not miss them. They stop, just like the red ones. — Yours, etc., J. W. K. BOTTING.
