Situation: A small depression east of Wairarapa is moving slowly south, a weak cold front is approaching Fiordland from the west, and a shallow anticyclone over the north Tasman Sea is moving east. Forecast: Marlborough, Nelson: Moderate northerly winds predominating; cloudy and cool about the Kaikoura coast, fine elsewhere.

Buller, Westland: Moderate westerlv winds; cloudy with moderate temperatures; drizzle in the morning and at night in some districts. Canterbury: About the coast, moderate north-easterlies at first, but a change to south-westerlies, spreading north during the da cloudy with some rain, and cool; fine inland, with light winds Outlook: Fair.
