No news of Parun
Tennis officials are uncertain if Onny Parun will be a starter in the BP national open championships at Wilding Park this week.
The New Zealand Davis Cup player did not return from overseas as expected yesterday afternoon, and tournament officials are now waiting anxiously for news of his intentions.
' In the meantime, they have drawn up a list of provisional seedings for New Zealand competitors. placing the junior Wimbledon champion, Chris Lewis, at No. 1, and his fellow Aucklander. Russell Simpson, behind him. Lewis
beat Simpson in the recent Wellington championships. The overseas players' seedings are headed by Jan Kukal, a 33-year-old Czechoslovakian who has played Davis Cup tennis for his country and beaten several accomplished men on international circuits. A big, powerful man, Kukal has also exceiled at basketball and soccer. Seeded behind him are Chris Letcher (Australia), Joao Soares (Brazil), and the title-holder, Gerhard Wimmer (Austria).
