TIMARU. ' All descriptions of wool were quoted as being easier on recent rates, in the official report of the Timaru wool sale yesterday. The report said there was: fairly general demand for cross-! breds, but the demand was more, restricted for halfbreds. Best-; style fine and extra-fine Merinos commanded a substantial i premium at times. Eastern Europe and the Con tinent were the principal buyers,; with local mills dominating the; Merinos. The Wool Marketing Corpora . tion gave moderate support to. the market by bidding on 14.43 j per cent of the offering, and: purchasing, or having passed to j it, 484 bales, oj? 2.1 per cent. The report quoted fine and extra-fine Merino fleece as being in sellers’ favour, medium and strong Merino, 2i per cent cheaper; halfbred fleece.s per: cent cheaper: halfbred 7 skirtings.■ 5 to 7i per cent cheaper; cross- ( bred fleece in buyers favour, and crossbred skirtings in buyers! favour.
