Two well-known personalities on Lyttelton’s (Waterfront were given jan official farewell by the Lyttelton Harbour Board yesterday. They are Mr R. J. Seymour, a board employee for 29 years, and Captain B. C. W.'Marshall, for 12 years relieving mate and later berthing master with the (board. ( Mr Seymour joined the (board as a labourer before i being appointed to the carpentry staff in 1950. For a • number of years he was crane driver on the floating j crane Rapaki. He gained his launchmaster’s certificate and radio-telephone licence in the early 19605, and spent ! his last years with the board ! as launchmaster in the I works launch Ruahine. Mr Seymour was for 37 . years a member of the Lyttelton Marine Band, but his main interests in retirement iwill be bowls and fishing. I Captain Marshall spent 37 (years at sea, mainly in small ' craft round New Zealand’s coast, before joining the board.
