Gisborne line open today

(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, December 10. The main south railway line, which was damaged in a derailment about a mile from Gisborne station last night is expected to be open for use by daylight tomorrow. A large team of police is still investigating the incident. At this stage they consider that vandalism caused the derailment. They are convinced that objects on the line were left there between 8.45 p.m. on Monday, when a freight train to Napier passed the spot, and the arrival of the derailed train at 11.34 p.m. The possibility of suffocation as dirt churned into the! cab of his overturned loco-; motive was the main fear facing the driver, Mr N. 5. Blair, of Gisborne.
