Food stands rejected
Take-away food stands in city streets might find it difficult to comply with food hygiene regulations, and might aggravate the litter problem, the Christchurch City Council’s health and general committee said on Thursday.
The committee recommended that permission be refused for movable stands which would sell hot dogs, hamburgers, and other foods on footpaths outside entrances to sports grounds, recreation reserves, and other places where people gather.
Problems of litter and misconduct could be “seriously aggravated” by such stands, the committee said.
