Ban on names stays
X.Z. Pre’* .Association) AUCKLAND. Nov. 28. The names of nine defendants facing charges arising from the J.B.L. crash were further suppressed today by Mr D. G. Sinclair, S.M., in the Auckland Magistrate's Court. Mr Sinclair deferred his decision on publication of the names until 5 p.m. next Friday, on the application of Mr 1.. W. Brown, Q.C. Yesterday the Magistrate ruled that the names' could be published, but granted interim suppression to this afternoon after counsel indicated they would appeal aaginst the decision to the Supreme Court. Ihe defendants are accused of conspiracy to defraud and fraudulent promoting. Mr Brown. who appeared today' on behalf of all defendants, said further steps had been taken towards having the Magistrate’s decision reviewed. A provisional fixture had been made at the Supreme Court for Thursday. He asked Mr Sinclair to extend his interim suppression order until after the Supreme Court hearing. Ihe Magistrate said the application was reasonable.
