N.Z. ships for Maui
(N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREL The Minister of Trade and Industry (Mr Freer) has given an assurance that New Zealand shipyards would build for ships to service the Maui gas platform. “These vessels will be built in New Zealand shipyards,” he told 100 workers at a lunch-time meeting at Whangarei Engineering and Construction, Ltd. Mr Freer said that the ships would be similar to the Polar Bear and Grizzly Bear, supply ships to the Penrod oil rig, except that they might not need the towing capability of those boats.
