CHORAL SOCIETY REVIVED
The South Brighton Choral Society, revived this year after several years in recess, will give its first public recital for many years in the newly-opened State Trinity Centre tomorrow night. The centre was formerly the Trinity Congregational Church. The choir will be con-1 'ducted by Derek Patterson, j Founded in 1947, the | (society grew in the 19505,j ■ and in 1959. when its con-, (ductor was Victor Ellena. it! ihad 70 members and per-; 'formed large works, such as, (“Elijah” and “Messiah.” But! ■ its membership dwindled, and ; in 1970 it went into recess l ■ Since its revival the choir! (has given concerts at hospitals, and in the Linwood Baptist church. Two soloists will join the choir in its concert tomorrow — Marianne Munoz, a (Chilean guitarist and folk-j singer, and Terence Dennis, a Christchurch pianist. Miss Munoz studied sing-: i ing at the Antofagasta Con- i (servatory. and was a mem-i ber of a popular folk-singing I (group for five years. She has ' sung as a soloist for Radio! (Chile. Mr Dennis is a pupil of; (Maurice Till in Dunedin.
