The attendance yvas 13,865; compared yvith 14,106 on the ( same day last year but the on-j course betting rose, from j $602,295 to .$654,566. One better, a young Takapuna i man, picked five of the six win-1 tiers in the jackpot and made' his claim in the alloyvable 30! minutes after the last of the six I events to win the $250 consola-i tion prize. If yvon outright next Saturday; the jackpot prize yvill be $2750. j Club officials were not too dis-; appointed that the attendance! failed to top that of last year, j They are hopeful that as thei jackpot pool swells so yvill the i crowds. If not yvon before then.. the jackpot will terminate! at the club's meeting on January 26 for a prize of $6750 iff yvon outright, or of $-4750 if! ayvarded to the racegoer picking the highest number of consecutive yvinners, including the first.'
