Otago wellbeaten
<N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. India began its tour with a omfortable 6-0 victory over Otago in Dunedin on Saturday. The Indians delighted the ! spectators with an exhibition of skills against the gallant but outclassed local team.
Although the Otago attack rallied on many occasions, ’here was little danger to the tourist’s defence. Arthur Parkin. the Otago coach and a national representative, made some appreciable incisive plays in the second half of the match but failed to connect with his fellow forwards. India’s centre-forward, S. Pawar, opened the scoring early in the first half when he drove a penalty-corner rebound through the Otago goal defence. In the 16th minute the Indians full-back, Suritt Singh, demonstrated the proficiency of his team’s penalty ! corner machine when he shot a straight goal with a speed which deceived the local defence.
I Singh repeated the feat 'three times to score four of I India’s goals. Shivaji Pawar scored the final goal of the match with | a field goal to give India the 16-0 win after leading 4-0 at half-time.
