Unseeded Cynthia Doerner. of Australia, upset the second seed, Martina Navratilova, of Czechoslovakia, yesterday in the semifinals of the $50,000 Mission Viejo Women’s Tennis Classic.

Miss Doerner, aged 24, won in three sets. 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, in a match that lasted 90 minutes under a burning sun. In the final she will face Chris Evert, a 6-0. 6-1 victor over Australia’s Dianne Fromholtz in the other semi-final.
