Cab driver attacked

WELLINGTON, Oct. 5. Two men will appear in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court tomorrow on charges arising from an attack on a taxi-driver in Wellington last night. The driver, Mr Zane Morgan, aged 45, had half of one ear bitten off and suffered bruising and a black eye after going to the aid of two young women being pestered by three men in Kilbimie.
The two men are charged with assault with intent to injure, and the police are seeking a third man.
Tennis.—The former Australian. Gail Chanfreau. retained her , women’s singles title in the [French cham pons hips with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Brigitte Simon lin the final.
