(X Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. A substantial six-figure offer Iby a group of Australians for the Melbourne Cup favourite [Fury’s Order has been refused. Mr L. H. Bridgeman, of Stratford. who has raced the five-year-old throughout his highly successful career from the Hawera stable of W. McEwan and L. Gestro. said yesterday he had little hesitation in declining the 'offer, which had been made on Wednesday. Mr Bridgeman said yesterday that he was not really interested at present in selling Fury’s Order, which has been the favourite for the 5150.000 Melbourne Cup since the first betting charts on the race were issued in July. “I will probably sell him when his racing days are over as I have no intentions at the moment of standing him at stud. “I would like him to remain in this country when he goes to stud If at all possible.” he added. The offer is the latest of several made during the last 18 months for Fury’s Order on behalf of both American and Australian Interests.
