Man wanted to be in custody
(N.Z. Press Assoctatton) AUCKLAND, Oct. 2. A man who kicked in a glass panel at the Auckland Magistrate’s Court told the notice that he would continue to cause damage until they stopped harassing him, Sergeant D. W. Somerville said today. Before Mr D. I. N. Maclean, S.M., Paul Rush, aged 30, an unemployed process worker, admitted a charge of wilful damage. He was convicted and remanded in custody to October 10 for a probation report and sentence. Sergeant Somerville said (that Rush kicked in the glass I panel by the side of the stairs ias he was leaving the court ( yesterday. When interviewed by the (police he said that he wanted Ito be in custody because the (Police kept arresting him for non-payment of court fines. I when he had paid them. He would, he said, continue Ito cause damage until the I police stopped harassing him. Mr Somerville said compensation of 575 was sought by the Justice Department.
