Euthanasia plea made C.V.Z.P..4.-Keuter—Copyright» MORRISTOWN (New Jersey i. A Superior Court judge has set aside October 20 to hear arguments for and against whether Miss Karen Ann Quinlan, aged 21, should con tinue to live. Karen fell into a coma on April 15, apparently from an overdose of drugs and alco hoi. Her adoptive father. Mi Joseph Quinlan, has petitioned the Court, for permis sion to disconnect the respir ator that is keeping hei alive in a hospital, where doctors have told him that she has suffered extensive brain damage and will never recover. The father’s petition will be challenged by a public defender, Mr Daniel Coburn, whom the Court has appointed as the young woman’s temporary guardian. He is expected to argue that her right to live is paramount. The legal issue is whether Miss Quinlan is now legally dead as a result of the brain damage.
