HONOUR FOR DAVIS
Lyn Davis, the Canterbury half-back and vicecaptain, has been named by the weekly paper, “Rugby News,” as one of its five players of the year.
The publication praised Davis for his “marvellous” game as captain and halfback for the South Island and said he emerged as a special hero for Canterbury, although the side had one of its leanest years.
“New Zealand Rugby knows no greater sportsman and battler than Davis,” it said.
The paper’s other players of the year were Duncan Robertson, Laurie Mains (both of Otago), Brvan Williams (Auckland), and Kevin Eveleigh (Manawatu).
