Parimar forced to turn back
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, Sept. 26. The 60ft luxury cruiser Parimar, which was to have sailed today to join a search for the missing Dunedin ketch Veronica, was forced to turn back because of adverse weather.
The Parimar sailed from Dunedin about 8.25 a.m. today but when she reached the open sea the skipper, Captain Ken Middleton, decided to turn back. The boat will probably set out again tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, an Auckland yachtsman is considering joining the search , for the Veronica.
The Northern Friends of Veronica spokesman, Mr J. Ross, said today the situation was still uncertain, but that the mystery boat was a substantial vessel.
So far, the Friends of Veronica appeal in Auckland has raised $l5OO. Together with an appeal in the South Island, it is hoped to raise $BOOO to finance the search. The other boats searching are the Aderyn Mor, a 45ft ketch from Lyttelton, and a 56ft motor-sailer Nereides from Tauranga.
