Mental health of women
Is suburban neurosis real? Do married women suffer mental illnesses more than single women? These are two of the questions that will be put to a panel of doctors and a social worker at a meeting to be held by the Christchurch branch of the National Organisation for Women on Monday evening.
N.O.W. decided to hold the meeting on “Women and Mental Health” because the report of the Select Committee on New Zealand women recognised that women, as a group, faced special problems in this kind of illness.
The (panel includes Dr Edwin jHall, Superintendent of Sunnyside Hospital: Dr Noeline Walker, a psychiatrist at Sunnyside Hospital: Dr Brian Jones, a general practitioner, and Ms Barbara Smith, a social worker and secretary of the Christchurch branch of N.O.W.
The panel discussion will be held at Aldersgate, 309 Durham Street at 8 p.m.
Family Planning Officers.— Officers elected at the recent annual meeting of the Christchurcuh branch of the New Zealand Family Planning Association included the following: President, Mrs M. Thomas; secretary, Mrs R. Wood and treasurer, Mr C. Marshall.
