Shipping Corp, at talks

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON

The New Zealand Shipping Corporation would play a full role in United KingdomEurope freight rate talks when it became a full participant in the trade, said the Minister of Transport (Sir Basil Arthur). Answering questions in Parliament, from Mr J. B. Gordon (Nat., Clutha), he said that the corporation had taken part as an observer at recent freight rate talks between the Conference Lines and producer boards.

It would apply to the Price Tribunal for approval to charge the new rates.

Bald sheep

A farmer in Anglesey, Wales, has solved the problem of the rising cost of shearing his sheep — he breeds them bald. Mr 1010 Owen, who now has 200 bald sheep among his flock, said: “I was fed up with having to shear my sheep. Wool is a very small part of my farm business, and it was costing me money.” The new sheep grow a thin layer of wool to protect themselves against the cold in the winter, but they shed this in the spring. — Anglesey.-
