Golf team not going

(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) ADELAIDE, August 25. Australia will not send a golf team to South Africa to compete in the international amateur series in November, the Australian Golf Union Council has decided. A brief statement announcing the decision was issued after the council meeting. It said:

“While this council is unanimously in favour of sending a golf team to South Africa, it is regretted that at this time it cannot see its way clear to do this in view of the Australian Government’s expressed disapproval towards the visit of sporting teams to South Africa. “The Austrialian Golf Union deprecates the Australian Government’s intention publicly to deplore and dissassociate itself from such a tour by an Australian golf team.”
