Americans were shocked to learn today that one of their best known baseball teams was up for possiblt sale to a Japanese group. Mr Horace Stoneham, the 72-year-old owner of the Sar Francisco Giants, denied re ports that he had already sold the team to Japanese industrialists for $l7 million, but he confirmed that he was negotiating the sale with a group of Japanese and others. The Giants have had the lowest attendance record of any major league baseball team during the last two years and have lost more than $3 million in the last three years.
