Information officer
The appointment of an information officer was approved by the Waimairi County Council on Thursday evening, when it was decided to advertise the post at a salary ranging from $8450 t 0 $9713. The chairman (Mr D. B. Rich) said the county had 170,000 residents, and it was astounding how little many of them knew about the council and its running. Cr H. M. Tait said it was the wrong time to be incurring more expenditure, and Cr F. Chisholm said essential work was delayed by lack of professional staff.
