Among the 128 witnesses! due to testify before the per-! manent military tribunal are Alexandres Panagoulis, who; was imprisoned for trying to' a-sassinate the leader of thei 1967 coup. George Papadopoulos. and Lady Amalia Fleming, exiled from Greece in 1971 for trying to help him escape. In his opening statement, the Public Prosecutor alleged 1 that the accused practised a variety of torture tech-, niques. including enforced: sleeplessness and forcing their victims to eat excrement and indulge in un-j natural sexual activities.
