Shortage of coal

Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Aug. 3 At least three Invercargill coal merchants are completely out of coal, ana will make no deliveries tomorrow One of them has orders amounting to 25 tons of coal — orders which will be unfulfilled. Almost no production from the Ohai State opencast mine since last Thursday is the reason for the shortage The mine, which produces 65 per cent of Ohai’s total coal, was flooded bv last Thursday’s rain and pumps have been working since Thursday night.
The Morley mine, which produces about 30 per cent of Ohai’s coal, was also put out of production when the storm damaged the winch house.
